In this article, I will be showing you how to add your own custom domain within Stampede. Please read our other article regarding why it is important to set this up within Stampede.

Adding your custom domain is a four-step process, outlined below:

1) Adding your domain to Stampede: Add your custom domain and sender email (this is what your customers will see when they receive communications from our services).
2) Email verification: Verify the email you have selected.

3) Domain authentication: Authenticating Stampede to send emails on your behalf.

4) SPF Verification: This prevents your emails from being marked as spam and protects your domain against spoofing.

Adding your domain to Stampede:

  1. Select "Marketing" from the left-hand side.

  2. On the column at the left under "Email" select "Addresses & Domains".

  3. Click on the "+" sign on the top right, this will allow you to add a new domain.

  4. A pop-up should appear to enter your email address and sender name.

  5. Once you have entered that information successfully, you will be able to see 2 sections. Authenticate Domain and Email Addresses, these will be set to pending until the verification is complete.

Email Verification:

  1. Sign in to the email account that you used for the email address in step 4.

  2. Once signed in, you should be able to see an email from Amazon Web Services. Click on that email and then click on the verification link.

  3. That’s you done, you should be able to see the orange light turn into a green light.

Domain Authentication:

  1. Sign in to your domain provider. With this tutorial, I will be showing how to set it up within Google Domains but the setup procedure will be the same. View all the Authenticate Domain setups here.

  2. Head over to DNS within your domain provider.

  3. Once you have the DNS section loaded, click on “Manage custom records”.

  4. From there, you will be able to add custom records for your domain. Head back to Stampede and copy the name from the first row. Open your domain provider backup and paste the name within the “Host name” section (Highlighted in Blue). Set the type to CNAME and leave the TTL (Time to Live) to the default value.

Head back to the Stampede dashboard and copy the value data from the first row and paste this within the data section in your domain provider. (Highlighted in red). Please do this for all the rows from the Stampede dashboard.

  5. Once you have completed that, click on save. Please give it some time for your domain provider to save these records. Head back to the Stampede dashboard and you will be able to see the Authenticate Domain go from Pending to Success.

SPF Verification:

  1. Sign in to your domain provider.

  2. Enter the following details within your DNS settings.

    Type: TXT

    Host: @

Value: v=spf1 include:amazonses.com ~all (If you require other domains to be on your SPF settings for your domain, you can add additional domains by adding include: before entering the domain. It should look like this: v=spf1 include:example.com include:amazonses.com ~all)

  3. Once you have entered the information, click on save. Please give it some time for your domain provider to save these records.
