If you have your own Omada controller or want to add an access point to Stampede's controller you can follow this guide that shows you how to set up a TP-LINK device from scratch. This guide will use a TP-LINK EAP 115 and the Android Omada App.
Once the device has been added to the controller, if you are a network admin you can use this yourself or contact Stampede to take care of this for you.
Prerequisites:
- Download the TP-LINK Omada App on your smartphone. You do not require an account.
- Ensure the network the device is being added to via ethernet is the same network you will connect to. E.G. Ports 1-4 manage the Guest Network so connect the access point to a spare port with this configuration.
How to Inform an Access Point to the Controller:
1. Connect the access point to your network either via a switch or directly on the router with an Ethernet cable. Ensure the device is powered on (By the green light on the device) and connected to a PoE (Power over Ethernet) switch or use the provided power adaptor if connecting directly to a router.
Connecting Ethernet cable to Access point and then from Access point to switch
.
If you already have an existing configuration or the device is hosted on a different controller, press and hold the reset button for 15 seconds until the green light on the access point begins to flash. This will perform a factory reset allowing you to discover the device from the Omada App.
2. Once you have a fresh Access point living on a local network open the Omada App and ensure you are connected to the same network.
3. Navigate to Standalone Mode, Select EAPs and you will see your device listed. Click the Eye Icon at the top right to enter the discovery mode.
4. This screen will show you all the devices awaiting adoption
5. Click the Check Box beside each access point you wish to adopt then click L3 Adoption at the bottom of the screen.
6. This will open the Adoption configuration menu. Enter the controller hostname/IP, username and password. Then accept the Terms of Use and then hit Done at the top right.
7. When successful you will be greeted with a Completed message.
Now you have successfully informed the access point to your selected controller. Next is to adopt the device onto that controller. If you are not a network administrator or do not have access to the controller please contact Stampede and we will complete the next steps!
How to Adopt the Access Point to the Controller:
1. Log into your controller and navigate to the site the access point will live on. On this site on the navigation menu select Devices.
2. You will see the new device listed in a pending state.
3. Select the device and from the action menu click Adopt
4. The access point will then begin to provision and configure.
5. Once completed the Access Point will show as Connected and management options will be made available for that device.
You have now successfully added a new access point to your Omada Controller! The controller will inherit any configurations on the site but if you need to set up a new captive portal from scratch follow this guide for the guest portal setup: Setting up your TP-Link + Stampede Network
