In this article, you'll learn how to use the close-out function in the Day Planner to temporarily block off time slots.
This is ideal when you need to stop bookings during certain hours for private events, staff breaks, kitchen resets, or unexpected closures.
1. Go to Bookings
Head to Venues from the left-hand navigation bar, then select Bookings to open the dashboard.
(If you have only one venue, selecting Venues will take you straight to your Bookings.)
2. Open the Day Planner
At the top of the screen, select the Day Planner tab to view bookings in a timeline format for the selected day. Use the Today button to jump back to the current date, or select another date using the calendar navigation.
3. Open the Close Out Feature
Click on the Close Out symbol at the top of the Day Planner.
Small boxes will appear above each time slot on the planner.
4. Select Time Slots to Block Out
Click on the boxes that represent the times you want to block.
For example, selecting 12:00 to 13:00 will visually block this window with red lines across the timeline.
Once your selections are complete, click Exit Close Out to save and return to the planner view.
5. View Existing Close Out Times
To check any current or upcoming close outs, simply click the Close Out icon again.
You’ll see a list of all scheduled close outs with the following details:
- Time slot closed
- Date created
- Name of the team member who created it
- A note confirming it applies to all tables
Example:
14:15 – 14:30
Created by Bianca Schwartz on 2025-04-13 for all tables
6. Deleting a Close Out
If you want to remove a previously added close out:
- Click the Close Out icon
- Select the relevant time slot
- Click Delete Selected
This will instantly free up the blocked time for new bookings.
Pro Tip:
Use close outs to manage unexpected downtime or maintain control over your dining pace during peak hours. You can close out individual time slots as needed without editing your service hours or special date settings.
