This article outlines how the Stampede Captive Portal works, specifically focusing on the flow involving Terms & Conditions, user behaviour, and email validation. It also clarifies what happens based on the user’s choices during the sign-up process.
Overview of the Captive Portal Process
Stampede’s Captive Portal is the Wi-Fi sign-up screen your customers see when attempting to connect to your venue’s network. It is designed to capture key customer information while ensuring compliance with your Terms & Conditions.
Terms & Conditions Flow
Before a user can access the Wi-Fi sign-up form, they are first presented with your Terms & Conditions. This is a required step in the process.
- If a user accepts, they are directed to the sign-up form and can proceed to log in.
- If a user declines, they will not proceed to the sign-up form, and access to Wi-Fi will not be granted.
This ensures all users explicitly agree to your terms before any personal information is submitted.
Email Input and Validation
While users can input any email address, including fake ones, we’ve implemented email validation to help ensure data accuracy and quality.
- Once the sign-up form is completed, the user will receive a validation email.
- When the user confirms their email via the link provided, they will be automatically connected to the Wi-Fi.
- If the email is not validated, access will not be granted.
This validation step helps ensure that only legitimate email addresses are used for successful Wi-Fi access.
