In this article, learn what CNAME records are used for in Stampede Marketing, how to verify them successfully, and what to do if verification remains pending.
What are CNAMES used for?
CNAME (Canonical Name) records are used to verify your custom sending domain within Stampede Marketing. This verification ensures your marketing emails are authenticated and delivered from your own domain, improving sender reputation and reducing spam risk.
Common Reason for CNAME Verification Issues
If your CNAME records have been added but verification is still pending, it’s usually because:
The DNS verification window expired. AWS (our email provider) only checks a domain for up to 72 hours after initial setup.
The records were added incorrectly — even small errors in hostnames or values can prevent verification.
Propagation delays — depending on your DNS provider, it can take a few hours for records to update globally.
How to Fix or Re-trigger CNAME Verification
If your verification has been pending for a while:
Confirm CNAME accuracy with your DNS provider (copy-paste each record again to ensure no spaces or typos).
Wait up to 72 hours after adding the records for AWS to automatically verify.
-
If more than 72 hours have passed:
Contact Stampede Support to re-trigger the SES verification in AWS.
Once re-triggered, AWS will begin checking your DNS records again.
In most cases, if the DNS records are correct, your domain should verify shortly after re-triggering.
Tip
You can use free online tools like MXToolbox to confirm your CNAME records are publicly visible before contacting support.
If the issue persists
If your records look correct but verification still hasn’t updated after re-triggering, please contact Stampede Support for further assistance. We’ll confirm the AWS verification status and help get your marketing domain authenticated.
