This article explains how to configure user actions in your booking system to customize guest experiences, such as allowing online amendments, managing pet policies, enabling selectable end times, booking invites, and collecting allergy or dietary information. These features help venues tailor services and improve guest satisfaction while streamlining operations.
This article will explain some user actions that can be enabled in your booking configurations. User actions allow for a more customisable experience for your guests. These will be based on the types of accommodations that your venue can make.
1. Go to Bookings
To set up booking types, go to Bookings to open the dashboard.
(If you have only one venue, selecting Venues will take you straight to your Bookings.)
1.5. Select Venue
If you have multiple venues, you will need to choose the one you want to configure. Select venues to open the list.
Listed venues will pop up; simply select the one you want to configure.
2. Open Settings
At the top right of the bookings page, click on settings, and this will take you to the booking Configuration.
3. Customise User Actions
From here, you will need to go to your booking types.
Clicking on edit will open the configuration for the booking types, and this will allow you to manage several customer options.
Allow Online Amendments
Under the Timing & Duration section, there is an option that can be toggled on or off that lets customers edit their own booking online before the booking begins. You can also set:
- Amendment Time Buffer: Set how far in advance before the booking, you will allow a guest to make changes (e.g. 2880 minutes = 2 days)
- Amendment Not Possible Message: Set a message informing customers of your Terms and Conditions for not allowing amendments after the time you set.
Note: Keeping the box unchecked will prevent the option from being available for the customer.
Dogs Allowed
Control whether you allow dogs within the venue and, if so, set a limit per booking.
This keeps expectations clear for guests while helping your team prepare appropriately.
Return to the main configuration tab, and you will be able to continue with the rest of the steps
Selectable End Times & Booking Invites
If this setting is enabled, it allows guests to select their own stay time (up to the maximum duration defined in your configuration). This is especially useful for venues offering flexible booking durations.
Booking invites allow guests to invite others to their booking. This:
- Sends the invited guest all the booking details
- Adds them to your marketing database (if opt-in is selected)
This is a great way to increase engagement and grow your contact list organically.
Allergens & Dietary Requirements
Enable a field for guests to declare any allergies, dietary needs or intolerances ahead of their visit. This can be enabled for either page 1 or page 2 of the booking process.
This helps you prep in advance and ensures a safer experience for your guests.
Pro Tip:
User Actions not only enhance the booking experience—they’re also a powerful way to collect information that helps you deliver a more personalised and smooth service. Be sure to review these settings during busy periods or seasonal updates.
