This guide explains how to configure your MikroTik (Stampede Snap Guard) so it integrates correctly with the Stampede captive portal. These instructions are intended as general guidance only — every network environment is different, and your setup may vary depending on how your router, firewall, or wider infrastructure has been configured.
For that reason, we strongly recommend the following before making any changes:
- Consult your IT provider or network engineer to ensure the configuration is suitable for your environment.
- Refer to MikroTik’s official documentation for the most accurate and up-to-date hardware instructions.
Use this guide alongside MikroTik’s resources, as this article covers only the Stampede-specific elements of the setup.
If you need help accessing your Stampede account or completing the Stampede part of the configuration, please contact support@stampede.ai, and our team will be happy to assist.
If you are unable to access Stampede, please contact support@stampede.ai or coordinate with your designated admin to get access.
Go to Stampede
Set-up integration on Stampede
- Log into Stampede at product.stampede.ai.
-
Go to Venues and select the venue you wish to configure.
-
Scroll down and selected Wi-Fi icon.
-
Scroll down to Hardware and select hardware in the "Other Vendors" option
Once selected, you’ll see a login request asking for:
Controller host name
Client ID
Client Secret
Test the Guest network
Now that your network is set up, it’s time to test the guest Wi-Fi. This step will need to be done from the venue itself — so please ask a staff member or someone on-site to help.
Select the Guest Wi-Fi
On a device at the venue (laptop or mobile), connect to the guest Wi-Fi network.-
Check the Connection
The Snap Guard (MikroTik) is now responsible for handing out IP addresses on the guest network.
Confirm that the device receives an IP address and is redirected to the captive portal.
-
Complete the Portal Test
Enter the details requested on the captive portal.
Once submitted, confirm that the device can access the Internet.
✅ If this works, the MikroTik has been successfully installed and your guest network is live!
Troubleshooting Connection Issues
You’ll know everything is working when you see Remote Access = Green.
If it shows Red, here’s what to check:
Click the refresh arrows to see a pop-up with error details.
Common errors include:
Unable to connect to port 8728 → Check port forwarding/firewall rules.
Authentication failed → Double-check the Client ID/Secret.
-
SSL Certificate error issue → Port 80 needs to be accessible.
You should now be connected, any issues please connect with your IT team.
