Stampede mainly uses HTTPS (443) to communicate with your network, but some Wi-Fi controllers require additional ports depending on the hardware in use. UniFi controllers need port 8443 open externally, while MikroTik devices require internal API access and unblocked hotspot redirects. All networks must allow outbound HTTPS, permit Stampede traffic through the firewall, and allowlisted Stampede domains and IPs. If outbound traffic is restricted, required Stampede addresses must be allowed. From November 2025, controller port requirements will be removed.

However, depending on your Wi-Fi hardware, additional ports may be needed.
UniFi Controllers
Port 8443 must be open externally.
MikroTik
API ports must be allowed internally
Hotspot redirects must not be blocked by firewall rules
All Hardware Vendors
Your network must allow:
Outbound HTTPS
Stampede traffic to pass through your firewall
Stampede IPs (see FAQ #2: walled garden list)
If your network blocks outbound traffic, allow the Stampede domains and IPs in your firewall.
Note: After November 2025, Stampede’s updated system will remove the need for controller-side port access.
