In this article, we explain how Stampede handles customer data and what your responsibilities are as a Data Controller. You’ll learn when Stampede acts as a Data Processor, what happens when you export data, and how to stay compliant across platforms—especially if your contract ends.
Stampede’s Role in Data Handling
Stampede acts as both a Data Controller and a Data Processor, depending on how the data is used. Our platform collects customer data, which can be used for various marketing activities and exported at any time.
Your Responsibilities as a Data Controller
Once you export data from Stampede and store it locally or in a third-party system, you become the Data Controller. This means you're responsible for ensuring compliance wherever that data is processed.
Example:
If you upload Stampede-collected data into a tool like MailChimp, and a customer unsubscribes via MailChimp, it’s your responsibility to inform us so that the customer is also removed from Stampede’s system.
What Happens If You End Your Contract?
If your contract with Stampede ends:
- You have 30 days to export and claim your customer data.
- After that, the data becomes inaccessible.
- While your contract is active, exporting data means you take full responsibility for its compliance and management.
In Summary
- You own any data you export while your contract is active.
- Once exported, you are the Data Controller and responsible for compliance.
- You have 30 days post-contract to retrieve your data.
