In this article you'll learn why email validation matters, what happens if a customer doesn’t validate or select their communication preferences, and whether their email address is still captured in Stampede.
When a customer interacts with your business through Stampede whether via Guest WiFi, bookings, loyalty sign-ups or forms their email address is often collected. However, to remain compliant with GDPR and ensure successful communication, customers are encouraged to confirm their email preferences.
Why Email Validation Matters
Ensures Marketing Consent
Customers must actively opt in to receive marketing emails. Without this validation:
- They will not receive any marketing communications.
- Their preferences remain unconfirmed, limiting outreach.
Improves Data Accuracy
Unvalidated or incorrect emails can:
- Lead to bounced messages,
- Impact your sender reputation,
- Be automatically added to the suppression list (see: Adding a User to the Suppression List).
Supports Customer Control
Through the Stampede Data Portal, customers can:
- Update their contact preferences at any time,
- Revoke access to their data from individual venues,
- Export or manage their personal information.
What Happens If They Don’t Validate Their Email?
- Their email may still be captured and stored in your system.
- However, they will not receive marketing emails until they confirm their preferences.
- If the email is invalid or marked as spam, it may be automatically added to your suppression list.
